Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Baker and Flour Confectioner with expertise in Southeast Asian breads and cakes to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will bring their specialised knowledge and skills to create authentic Southeast Asian baked goods, serving our diverse clientele with high-quality products.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and bake a variety of Southeast Asian breads, buns, and cakes following traditional recipes and techniques.
• Mix, knead, and ferment dough for different Southeast Asian bread varieties.
• Create sweet and savoury Southeast Asian-style fillings and toppings.
• Apply appropriate glazing, decoration, and finishing techniques specific to Southeast Asian baking traditions.
• Ensure high-quality standards and consistency across all products.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the bakery area.
• Work efficiently to meet daily production schedules.
• Monitor inventory and report supply needs to management.
• Comply with all food safety regulations and standards.

Qualifications:

• RQF Level 3 qualification or higher (equivalent to A-levels, BTEC Nationals, or advanced vocational training in bakery/culinary arts).
• Proven experience in baking Southeast Asian breads, buns, and cakes.
• Comprehensive knowledge of ingredients used in Southeast Asian baking.
• Skills in dough preparation, shaping, glazing, decorating, and baking.
• Understanding of fermentation processes specific to Southeast Asian bread varieties.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
• Food hygiene certification.

Conditions:

• Early morning starts are required, with typical shifts from 4 am until 12 noon.
• Work hours may vary based on production needs.
• Standing for extended periods in a bakery environment.
• Working with bakery equipment and hot ovens.
